Heirloom Tomatoes

This is our first year trying out Heirloom tomatoes! It's been a fun and eye-opening experience! We are growing four popular varieties; these are mostly very large, ribbed, and each shows off a unique color from red to yellow to almost pink! Due to the nature of non-hybridized tomatoes, they'll have plenty of large "cracks," and the flesh naturally deteriorates much more quickly than their "regular" tomato counterparts. These have not been washed, gassed, sprayed with waxes or preservatives, or heavily sorted of bruises, cracks, etc. They HAVE been grown with love right here at Riley Farms! They will taste amazing in BLT's, caprese salads, bruchettas, etc.!

Early in the year, while it's still snowing outside, we start our own tomatoes from seed in the greenhouse, then plant the starts out in the garden in raised beds when the weather is warm enough. After many months of nourishment from our rich Utah soil, rural fresh air, and mountain water, the flavor-filled fruits are finally ready to be hand-picked for your table. Try them for yourself!
