Caring for your produce

When you pick up your order, it’s about as fresh as it gets. It’s been picked within 72 hours of delivery, and usually less—often as little as 5 hours. Because your produce is so fresh, we do not apply preservatives, fungicides, waxes, or other treatments that are the norm at the grocery store. Produce this fresh tastes amazing, but needs a little TLC.

Just follow the steps below to make the most of your harvest!

  • Step 1

Once you get your produce home, unpack it and take a quick look. Use any ripe or gently bruised items first to enjoy them at their very best.

  • Step 2

Wash produce in a vinegar-and-water solution, dry well, and store in the refrigerator for up to a week. Avoid washing or refrigerating tomatoes, onions, or potatoes until use.

  • Step 3

Take a look at your produce each day and pick out the ripest, tender ones to enjoy first. Visit our recipes page for simple, tasty ways to cook up and put up the harvest
